GLOGood Lookin’ Out
Pennsylvania regulations: details
Copied from the state’s website on September 17–19, 2026 (the state’s July 4, 2026 update). Check the official page before you rely on a rule.
What is here
- 49,890 entries from 45,041 pages of 39 of the 40 titles the state lists: 39,885 sections, 5,109 pages the state marks Reserved, 20 appendices, and 4,876 group notes.
- A group note is a heading with its Authority and Source notes that the state prints above (4,707) or below (169) a section. We store it as its own entry beside the sections it covers, not inside each section. A note printed below a section can belong to the next group, and the entry says so.
- Every page carries the same state update stamp, 56 Pa.B. 4026 (July 4, 2026).
How we checked it
- We picked 300 entries at random, copied each page again and read it the same way. All 300 matched. This shows the copy is stable; it does not show our reading is right.
- We compared 150 sections with the state’s own chapter PDFs, a separate version of the same text. 149 matched and 1 could not be lined up.
- A person read 21 unusual entries line by line against the state’s pages and found no errors.
- These are samples. They can show a problem exists; they cannot prove there are no others. They show the copy is faithful to the page; they cannot prove the page is right.
What it can't tell you
- Whether a rule is in force today. Pennsylvania law (45 Pa.C.S. § 901) makes the published Code the valid text, but this is a copy of the July 4, 2026 update, not the official edition, and later changes are not in it.
- Whether a rule is correct as law or has been challenged. Nothing here says so.
Known gaps
- 53 chapters the state publishes only as PDF are not here, including all 27 chapters of title 13. 578 listed chapters have no sections at all.
- 27 pages answered “File not found” when copied, including 204 Pa. Code §§ 309.4a and 309.4b of the parole guidelines. One page with no contents link was never copied. Looking one of these up says so.
- 591 to 599 entries hold a range of numbers under the first one, such as §§ 4215.31–4215.37. Looking up a later number in the range finds nothing; try the nearest lower number.
- 55 numbers are used by different rules in different chapters (for example 204 Pa. Code Rule 101 in six chapters). Looking one up returns all of them and names each chapter.
- 8 numbers have both a live page and a Reserved page in the same chapter. Both are shown.
- Tables are shown line by line as the page lays them out. Small raised and lowered characters run into the line (CO2, SB15).
- On 39 pages the state titles the wrong section or prints a label without a space, and 16 carry a mismatched page code. Those entries are filed under the page’s own address.
Notes you may see on an entry
- 13 entries (sentencing matrices and the parole guidelines form, 204 Pa. Code): “The rule itself is a chart or form Pennsylvania publishes only as a picture. We don’t carry it. See it on the official page.”
- 5 entries: “This introduces a picture (a seal, form or chart) we don’t carry. See it on the official page.”
- 205 other entries with pictures: “Part of this rule is a picture we don’t carry.”
- 61 Pa. Code ch. 871 Appendices A–J: “Earlier versions of the chapter; the heading “Version in effect on <date>” is shown with every result.”
- Group notes above and below a section: “A group heading and notes the state prints above this section. They cover the group of sections that starts here. / Printed below this section on the same page. It can belong to the NEXT group of sections, not this one.”
- 17 entries under 8 numbers: “The state publishes two pages under this number in this chapter, one marked Reserved. Both are shown; read each.”
- A lookup that finds nothing: “No entry under that number. It may be part of a combined entry such as §§ 4215.31-4215.37; try the nearest lower number.”
Nothing here is legal advice or a judgment that a rule is in force. Full counts for software: the defect_floor field on every Pennsylvania result (source=pa).
