GLOGood Lookin’ Out
Rhode Island regulations: details
Copied from the state’s website on September 21, 2026. Check the official page before you rely on a rule.
What is here
- 11,841 entries from the 1,186 part pages the Secretary of State lists. Every page loaded.
- The state says the official text of each part is its PDF (“Final Regulation”). What we hold is the state’s web copy of that text, and every entry links its part’s PDF.
- The two can differ. In 250-RICR-150-10-6 § 6.57 (Cesspool Phase Out) the PDF prints a subsection D that the web page does not have. That entry says so.
- 11,811 entries carry rule text. The other 30 are parts the state lists as inactive; each comes back with its status as printed and no text.
- Each entry carries its part’s Effective date as the page prints it. It is not a statement that the rule is current. The date on each entry is the day we copied it.
How we checked it
- Two programs written separately read all 1,186 part pages and agreed exactly on the text of all 11,811 sections.
- We drew entries at random under a plan frozen before the test. Every check it named passed.
- 150 sections were compared against each part’s official PDF. 149 matched. The one that did not was the state’s web page missing the subsection above, not a copying error of ours.
- A person read 150 entries against their pages and found none wrong. At that sample size the true error rate could still be as high as 2.5%.
What it can't tell you
- Whether a rule is current, valid or in force.
- Whether the web copy matches the official PDF for sections outside the 150 we compared.
Known gaps
- 52 sections leave their content to the PDF (often an appendix or form). We serve no text for them and say where it is.
- 481 sections contain tables, stored as plain text in reading order. 3 contain images we do not copy.
- Superscript and subscript marks are joined to the word beside them (“compounds” with a footnote letter is stored “compoundsa”), so a search for the plain word can miss those sections.
- 7 sections keep text the page strikes through, as printed.
- 70 sections are longer than 40,000 characters and come back cut off, marked as cut off.
- We took one page every two seconds under a name that identifies GLO.
Notes you may see on an entry
- 30 inactive parts: “No rule text. The state lists this part as inactive, shown as printed.”
- 52 sections whose content is only in the PDF: “No text here. The state’s page leaves this section’s content to the official PDF.”
- 7 sections with struck text: “The page strikes through some text here. It is kept as printed; read it against the PDF.”
- 481 sections with tables: “This section contains a table stored as plain text. Check the layout in the PDF.”
- 3 sections with images: “This section includes an image that is not in the text.”
- 250-RICR-150-10-6 § 6.57: “The official PDF prints a subsection D (Temporary Hardship Extension) that this web copy does not.”
- A lookup of R.I. Gen. Laws: “That is Rhode Island statute law, not the Code of Regulations. The lookup says so rather than returning nothing.”
- A lookup of a part number: “A part holds many sections. The lookup says so and names a section to try, rather than returning nothing.”
Nothing here is legal advice or a judgment that a rule is in force. Full counts for software: the defect_floor field on every Rhode Island result (source=ri).
